Process

Founders often face steep challenges in the early stages, from structuring their cap table to preparing for their first round of funding. Without the right tools and guidance, making the right decisions can be daunting. Carta sought to build a solution that not only provides best practices and resources but also creates an intuitive, user-friendly experience that enables founders to confidently take their ventures to the next level.

As an early case study, Founder Li worked with Carta to design and optimize the Founder Studio platform to ensure founders could easily access crucial tools and resources.

As an all in one founder’s platform, it offers:

Fundraising Prep: Founders can develop a fundraising plan, monitor ongoing valuations, and track their progress toward successful rounds. Equity Splitting Tool: One of the most challenging early decisions is determining how to divide equity among co-founders. Founder Studio simplifies this process by providing recommendations based on founders' unique inputs. Comprehensive Learning Resources: Hundreds of articles and insights on incorporating a business, managing compensation, and navigating the fundraising process are available in an extensive resource library.

We focused on designing a seamless user experience to ensure founders could intuitively navigate the platform's features.

We began by designing the unique equity split tool, which helps founders navigate one of the most difficult early-stage decisions. From there, we expanded the platform by incorporating additional tools from Carta’s main suite, ensuring founders have access to a full range of resources right from the start. Eventually, we integrated dozens of valuable articles and resources that guide founders through critical early-stage challenges. The ultimate goal was to engage founders much earlier in their journey, equipping them with the knowledge and tools they need even before they start thinking about equity management.

Carta's Founder Studio has empowered countless early-stage founders to overcome typical startup hurdles. By offering free access to vital tools and guidance, founders can make more informed decisions, successfully raise funds, and confidently grow their ventures. The intuitive platform has made it easier for founders to navigate the startup ecosystem, positioning them for long-term success.
