Process
In the summer of 2023, Studio Salt collaborated with Blaz.ai to design the MVP for a smart contract fuzzing tool aimed at improving security testing for blockchain professionals.
This project presented several challenges, including tight deadlines and the need to simplify a complex process, as well as the lack of a pre-existing design framework. Our role was to create a user-friendly, scalable interface that would streamline testing cycles and support future growth.
The MVP for Blaz.ai introduced an intuitive platform for smart contract testing, resulting in faster and more efficient testing cycles. It also set the foundation for future enhancements by establishing a scalable design system. Positive feedback from both users and stakeholders highlighted the tool's success in improving workflow efficiency for smart contract professionals, setting Blaz.ai apart in a highly specialized market.
Our target users were blockchain developers, security auditors, and product managers. Through interviews and workshops with product managers and founders, we gained a deep understanding of the pain points and workflows of these professionals. The tool needed to reduce repetitive tasks and improve efficiency, while accommodating users with varying levels of technical expertise.
Market research revealed that existing smart contract fuzzing tools often suffered from steep learning curves and clunky interfaces. Many required users to have a deep understanding of coding and version control systems, complicating the testing process. Blaz.ai’s goal was to address these challenges by creating a more accessible and efficient tool for experienced professionals, without sacrificing functionality.
We created a detailed user flowchart outlining each step users would take within the platform, ensuring alignment across teams and helping to prioritize key features. For the interface, we focused on creating a clean homepage that displayed tasks clearly and offered quick actions. Feedback from usability tests led us to simplify the design, making task navigation more intuitive and reducing the learning curve.
A key part of the project was developing a scalable design system, as Blaz.ai had no existing design files when we started. We established a consistent UI framework that could easily accommodate future updates and feature additions. This system streamlined the design and development process, ensuring that future iterations would maintain both consistency and usability.
While Studio Salt was not involved in the beta testing phase, we helped define key performance metrics for tracking the product’s success. These included user engagement, error rates, and satisfaction scores. These insights were critical in identifying areas for further improvement and ensuring that the tool continued to meet user needs post-launch.
The Blaz.ai project underscored the importance of feedback and collaboration. By continuously integrating insights from users and stakeholders, we were able to refine the design and meet the project’s tight deadlines. Prioritizing essential features allowed us to deliver a polished MVP within four months. The end result was a highly effective, user-friendly tool that is set to make a significant impact in the smart contract security space.
